ABOUT THE CASE

  • The final assignment for a course focused on copywriting I was tasked with creating a new, useful, product or service and create a launch campaign. Hence I created LAVIN – an app that helps you stay safe in avalanche areas.

  • Being out in the avalanche terrain without the right knowledge and equipment is dangerous – sometimes outright stupid. Right now, either you know basically nothing at all and think “It won’t happen to me” or you have completed various courses in avalanche safety. LAVIN aims to bridge that gap and solve multiple problems, i.e the lack of essential knowledge and having to navigate multiple websites or apps to find avalanche conditions, weather or a terrain-map for your area. With ease of use, up-to-date avalanche reports, and a mix of other useful functions LAVIN is the one-stop-shop for staying safe in avalanche terrain.

    Functions:
Essential knowledge, check-lists, an interactive 3D map that shows steepness and recent avalanches, GPS tracker that lets you know when you enter a dangerous area and share your location with the rescue-patrol, first aid guide, avalanche and weather reports, ability to connect with local guides

  • To market this newly launched app we took advantage of some of the things skiers/snowboarders love the most: sayings and bragging at the after-ski. With inspiration from classics like “He ä bar å åk” and “No Friends on a powder day”, we came up with alterations and new variations playing on the humor and self-distance of skiers/snowboarders while still having a serious undertone regarding the dangers of avalanches.

We placed these ads in relevant magazines, in ski resorts, on the web through native articles and tutorials, sponsoring events, and utilizing influencers.
